Welcome to KT-Challenges!

Financial stringency, spending cuts, problems achieving growth, both universities and industry across the UK and wider Europe face some of the most severe challenges for a decade. Universities need to generate more income through knowledge transfer, while at the same time maximising its impact. Companies are looking for new and innovative solutions to their problems, which could be achieved through the exchange of knowledge with universities, if the firms can be persuaded to commit.

How can the available knowledge transfer opportunities be exploited, with constrained resources?

'Challenges for Knowledge Transfer - A Time of Change' is a one-day symposium that aims to address this challenge, while also providing opportunities for the success stories of KTP to be told through work-in-progress presentations.

Who Should Attend

The symposium will be of interest to knowledge transfer professionals, academics, managers and researchers involved in knowledge exchange across a range of disciplines.

Coming to the Conference

KT-Challenges is being held at the Sheffield Business School, Stoddart Building, City Campus, Sheffield. There is a map on the 'Venue' page of the website

Registration opens at 8.30 on the morning of 7 July and the event formally opens at 9.30am.

Informal Pre-Conference Social

A number of people attending the conference and arriving the night before have asked about the possibility of meeting up in Sheffield on the evening of Wednesday 6 July. It is suggested that those that wish to meet at about 7.30 at The Benjamin Huntsman 12-18 Cambridge Street Sheffield South Yorkshire S1 4HP (http://www.jdwetherspoon.co.uk/home/pubs/the-benjamin-huntsman) It is a Wetherspoons pub and should therefore have plenty of room, and food available for those that wish, although we could also move on to a restaurant if people wished. Russ Hepworth (IKT) will be arriving later but Bob Howlett will be there, with a blue-and-white KES umbrella (suitably furled!) so you can recognise him! Bob's mobile number in case of problems is 07905 987544.
